spacesurfer Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 hi,i have in the components section of winnt.sif folder, msn explorer and msn messenger set to no so it won't install.however, it still installs. moreover, i want fax services to install but it won't.i checked for spelling and it's all correct.can't figure it out.it's not an nlite. it's an untouched CD with sp2 integratedany suggestions?(i don't thim oempreinstall=yes should be an issue in this?)
T D Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Just open nlite and check if fax services is in there in the first place. Don't mod anything unless you want to.Can you post your winnt.sif? And take out your serial number. Most ppl forget...
spacesurfer Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 Here is my winnt.sif_________________________________[Data] MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" AutomaticUpdates=No[unattended] UnattendMode=ProvideDefault OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=No TargetPath=\WINDOWS WaitForReboot=No DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore [GuiUnattended] EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=35 OemSkipEula=Yes OemSkipWelcome=0[userData] ProductID=xxx... T D Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 It looks fine to me, (what is homenet anyway? just asking) so it must be your source.Sorry. Try removing stuff in nlite not from winnt.sif.
spacesurfer Posted June 10, 2006 Author Posted June 10, 2006 Do I need the unattendedswitch="yes"? I didn't think I need that since installing or removing compoents is not related to an unattended install.[Homenet] are properties for you network. By setting ShowTrayIcon=yes, it shows your Local Area Network icon in tray.Found this in microsoft's help file in deploy.cab.This doesn't work either, even though I have it enabled.Although the name of my workgroup is being recognized, the rest is not being recognized.
T D Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 I use unattendedswitch=yes and it works for me. Don't know if you need it though. Try removing all your xxxxxxx=Yes under [components] and see if it works and still installs them.
