[Question] Offline Files Alternative

I want to reduce the size of roaming profiles by using folder redirection, however if I do that and a switch gets unplugged / server goes down users are more than likley going to loose the file they're working on.

I dont want to use offline files because that requires syncing the whole my documents folder. What I'm really looking for is some sort of app that - when the network connection is lost - simulates the connection being there and allows users to save open documents to a local cache and tells them not to try and open any other files.

Then, when the connection is restored, it merges the changes and gives them the OK to keep on working.

Does anyone know of an app that does this?
