Why can't I see those files in my folders?

This is the weirdest thing I've ever encountered. Basically I reformatted my computer and now I can't see some of those files from a folder I transferred from another computer. All the files in that folder is visible from another computer, but not mine. I can't figure it out. I checked the properties of the folder and nothing. Another weirder thing is that my computer isn't saving the settings that I made. I enable "quick launch" and restarted my computer and that didn't save. I had to reenable it again. Weird...

Ok I've just done another reformat and the problem still appears. Files in the folder on my brother's computers are not visible on my side. Only some of the files are accessible. Furthermore, I can't install Activesync 4.1.

I double click on the setup file and a popup appears with the following text:

"Command line parameters:

/L Language ID

/S Hide initalization dialog. For silent mode use: /S/v/qn.

/V paramters to MsiExec.exe

/UA

/UW

/UM"

I am very confused.

Do you have Show Hidden Files enabled? Can you still open them from within programs? Can you create a file with the same name as one?
