eboughey Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 (edited) Operating System - XP HomeEvery time I run a program as Administrator, I get an account restriction. I cannot install a print utility and I just cannot fathom what needs to be done in order for me to install programs that require it to be installed by the administrator. Please help as I am already hours behind on a job that should've been finished way before now. Thanks for any assistance or advice.Elena Edited May 11, 2006 by eboughey
tomcatuk.net Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 This might sound obvious, but are you attempting the install from a restricted account and using the "Run As..." and selecting administrator, or actually logging onto the machine as the admin and doing it?I'd try the second option if you haven't yet.
eboughey Posted May 11, 2006 Author Posted May 11, 2006 I've done both. I can only log as administrator from Safe mode though. It's just really frustrating! I couldn't find anything on Windows Support except the fact that they do it purposely.
tomcatuk.net Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 It's a guess, but I would thinkk whatever it is that is preventing you from logging into the administrator account is the cause. It would probably be a hardware issue of some kind - if it was me, I would try disconnecting hardware until I could get into the administrator account. Do I take it from your fisrt post that you're installing a printer? If it's connected, try disconnecting it, then log in and install the software.
RJARRRPCGP Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 It appears that the permissions got messed up. You're probably required to reinstall Windows. Sorry.
