When i log on to the exchange server to give those groups mailboxes half of them worked. the other half threw this error at me when i tried to create a mailbox. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="unicode" ?> - <taskWizardRun taskName="Establish E-mail Address on Groups" dcName="MAIL0302" buildNumber="7638" runningAs="jblow@whateverdomain.local"> <timespan startTime="2006-05-04 18:10:52.150" milliseconds="16" /> <taskSummary errorCount="1" completedCount="0" warningCount="0" errorCode="0x00000000" /> - <items>- <item adsPath="Group_Billing" class="group"> <progress code="60" milliseconds="16">Updating attributes</progress> <summary isWarning="false" errorCode="0x80004005">The operation failed.</summary> </item> </items> </taskWizardRun>Let me know if i need to supply more info. cluberti
The error code 0x80004005 means access denied, so it obviously failed due to security permissions on those users account objects in AD. Were you using a domain admin account, and did you do a full forest and domain prep (domainprep for each domain tree in the forest too) when you first installed Exchange? bijicool
Forestprep and domainprep are mandatory, Exchange setup just doesn't start if it does not detect them.I guess this is a AD security issue

cluberti
True, but if the accounts are in a child domain, and domainprep wasn't run on that child domain, you will get similar errors.
