Guest dpbarry Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Hi all..I've successfully created a bootable CD with all BashRats driver packs and utilised Nlite to fill in the serial Number etc but is there a way of the system formatting the existing C drive partition before installing windows. The reason for my query is that I have my HD's partitions set up therefore don't wish to change them but at the moment, if I attempt to install to the existing C partition, it tells me that an operating system exists on the partition and that it is not advisable to install 2 on the same partition (or words to that effect)What I would like the unattended CD to do is when it starts up, if it finds the HD partitioned, format the first partition then continue on and install XP using the unattened setting file.Is this possible? Brain is a bit frazzled today as I've be working at creating the unattened setup for a few days now.Declan
airmr Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Hi,as far as i searched for that a long time ago and as far as i know theres no way to do that. You can let XP Installation format the HD but then it takes the WHOLE HD and does 1 C: Partition....correct me if im wrong
Guest dpbarry Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Oops.. Sorry.Seems to be a bit of a quirk with XP. If you select the first partition and click on next, you get the format stage but if for some reason you step back from this page and then decide all was okay, you don't get the Format page. It just tells you about not installing two Ops sys on the same partition.I restarted the compuetr and was able to follow through the format stage without haveing to remove any partitions. Now I just need to work out to to set up and unattended install which covers setting up partitions from scratch.Off to read a bit more of this forum.Declan
