cluberti Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 There is real danger if you are running Exchange, otherwise a domain rename is relatively painless.http://www.microsoft.com/technet/downloads...mainrename.mspx
rookieboy Posted April 3, 2006 Author Posted April 3, 2006 Thanks cluberti,Your answer was very helpfull, no there is no Exchange server runningI asume I have tell the client pc's to disjoin (the old) and join the new domain ?
Gekko_uk Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 When you say "tell clients to disjoin.. etc" what do you mean?Is there a quicker way of doing it than having to ground them all manually? If so please explain.
Gekko_uk Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Well, when I do that I get weird Errors in Event log and also I find accessing domain resources can be very patchy.
cluberti Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Well, that's always a possibility. If you make a change to the domain that also changes the netbios domain name, this can happen (and thus removing/re-adding machines is a very good thing to do). However, if the netbios domain name doesn't change, you may simply be able to push out the new dns domain name and suffix via a GPO and things should get better.
