Change domain name svr2003

Hi,

Want to change domain name on 2003 DC, egg. from xxdomain.com to xxdomain.local

The server is also running IIS

What are the consequences ? Is it tricky, the DC is managing about 10 clients

Need short answer, anyone ???

There is real danger if you are running Exchange, otherwise a domain rename is relatively painless.

I asume I have tell the client pc's to disjoin (the old) and join the new domain ?

When you say "tell clients to disjoin.. etc" what do you mean?

Is there a quicker way of doing it than having to ground them all manually?

No, you should not. A reboot should suffice.

Well, when I do that I get weird Errors in Event log and also I find accessing domain resources can be very patchy.

Well, that's always a possibility. If you make a change to the domain that also changes the netbios domain name, this can happen (and thus removing/re-adding machines is a very good thing to do). However, if the netbios domain name doesn't change, you may simply be able to push out the new dns domain name and suffix via a GPO and things should get better.
