Hello everyone,

on my old system the Maximus Decim Native USB Driver (german version) worked without problems, although I didn`t remove other usb driver before installation. For my system ran stable over years I did not install the unofficial sp, just the nusbd22.exe.

Then I bought a cheap upgrade kit (mainboard jetway k8t8as, AMD sempron 2600+, 256 MB DDR-RAM, ATI RADEON 9600). At first it worked fine too, but than I got a blue screen while playing a online game and windows refused to start in normal mode for the first time. I tried some things like overinstalling windows, downloading new drivers, reinstalling direct x, deselect everything in msconfig.exe but wasn`t able to get a stabil system again.

So I formated drive c, installed windows again, installed mainboard and graphik driver, downloaded all updates from microsoft and tried again to run nusbd22.exe (I have a tascam 2488 and there is no other win98 driver for it). But now everytime I plug in any usb device that starts this driver windows freezes some time later and wont start again in normal mode (secure mode is ok). When trying to start the computer freezes after having displayed the start image. When I press crt-alt-del I first see a "normal" bluescreen, than one with a vxd error. I can restore an older registry and everything is fine again.

Is there any chance to get the driver to work? And if not, can anybody tell me what files I have to delete to remove it completely from my system? Else I might plug in some usb device in some month and, having forgotten about this problem, might click "ok" for the maximum decim driver :-) Or would it help to install the unofficial service pack?

My system:

Windows 98 SE (without unofficial service pack)

Jetway K8T8AS with VIA K8T800 / VT8237 (there dont seem to be any newer usb-driver)

256 MB DDR

Saphire Radeon 9600, 128 MB

Soundblaster Live Value

noname firewire card, noname dvd rom, liteon allwriter dvd burner

a to big seagate hard disk, installed with seagate tools, some GB over 137 leaving unused

an old roland u-8 usb sound interface

maybe I just should have bought a better mainboard :-)

Thanks for any answers

Matthias

Thank you very much, krick. It seems to work fine with the Hyperion pro 5.04A package.

But isn`t it a shame that in 2006 I can buy a mainboard with a chipset launched years ago, finding the drivers for good old Win98SE beeing outdated?

Thanks again for your great advice

Matthias
