mncableguy Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 (edited) I was recently given a used tower that a friend built himself, a while ago. Well he is off over seas right now in the airforce and I havnt been able to contact him. I had to reformat the system and everything loaded up fine with XP pro. I had trouble finding the sound card drivers though and its an onboard one. I found some that it accepted but I dont think they are the right ones yet because I dont get any sound. It tells me I have VIA AC97 for drivers, dont have any yellow marks in profiles. I dont know what to think, maybe my sound card died on me. I tried looking for the chipset or driver set from the asus site and had no luck. the board is A7VBX-MX SE.I have a sound card here that I wanted to try to use, i have the drivers for it but when ever I slip the card in and try to start the computer, it wont start or gives me a device drive error. I tried going into bios to see if I can disable the onboard sound but couldnt find it. I am looking for some advice on what I should do or if someone knows where to find the right drivers for this board. I hope the card aint shot. Edited March 18, 2006 by Bâshrat the Sneaky
Guest Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Are you sure you don't have the Asus A7V8X-MX SE?If so then you can find your drivers here:http://support.asus.com/download/download....l=A7V8X-MX%20SE
Ricardoco Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 (edited) Hi there, having just purchased two boards (A7V400-MX) & (A7V8X-MX SE) both boards being almost identical, i had the same problem, so here is the information i worked out. The manual is not clear if you read the words, but if you look at the front panel audio header you will see that some of the pins have a blue shroud on the picture, if you do not have front panel audio connected the you must get some jumpers to put on the header in the same place as stated in the manual, i have attached a picture to show this. jumpers are indicated in blue. OH and 1 more thing turn your speakers down before you let it re-boots cos i nearly had heart failure when i did it becuase the volume was turned right up.. Also follow this link for the drivers.http://support.asus.com/download/download....SLanguage=en-usThe model is SocketA(462) in the first field and A7V8X-MX SE in the second fieldAll the best.
