At one time I installed SPK2 update on my computer and it screwed everything up. I have Windows XP and I had to contact Microsoft, for a fee, to help me uninstall it and restore my computer to day one. The only thing I can see is that SPK2 update installs a Windows Firewall which clashed with the McAfee firewall I already had on my computer. After the restore I just kept the windows firewall and installed SPK2 and it is working fine now. I want to install SPK2 Update on my daughter's computer and she has McAfee firewall. I would greatly appreciate any information that would let me know if it would be okay to uninstall McAfee Firewall and then install the Microsoft SPK2 Update which will include the Windows Firewall and if it would cause any problems. :thumbup

Thanks

it's most likely that xp firewall will interfere with mcafee.

you might try to disable mcafee, install sp2 which enables native firewall by default, then disable xp firewall and eventually re-enable mcafee.

that's the way i did while installing sp2. difference is i use bit defender firewall, not mcafee.
