WinPE / Event Log

Hi

Does anyone know if there is a way to read the event logs of a server's drive which has booted up with WinPE. I have tried using Event Log Explorer 1.3 -- however when I go to the c:\windows\system32\config directory on the server and try to open it I receive the following error

Event Log "c:\windows\system32\config\AppEvent.evt" could not be read.

Is there any other way of viewing the logs.

Any help would be much appreciated
