5270 installation woes - can anyone help please?

Hi folks

Got the 5270 build, burned to a DVD and tried to install and everything went fine - until the first reboot. At this point my computer just loops through reboots, with the occasional flash of the Windows Longhorn boot screen.

My set-up:

Abit KV8-MAX3 motherboard

AMD Athlon64 3200+ CPU

2Gb DDR400 RAM (2x1Gb Sticks)

VIA SATA RAID (2x250Gb WD Raid Edition SATA drives in RAID 0 stripe)

SiI 3114 RAID (in non-raid config with 1x160Gb WD SATA drive on it)

ATI X800XTPE (AGP)

Soundblaster Audigy PCI

1xDVD-ROM

1xDVD-RW

1x80Gb WD 80Gb IDE drive

I'm not installing to either the VIA RAID or the drive I have on the SiI - instead I am using a plain old 80Gb IDE drive off the motherboard's IDE controller to avoid any driver issues.

I've tried disabling both RAID controllers in the BIOS and that makes no difference whatsoever. Just to make sure I also promoted the IDE drive to primary boot drive as well. I also tried installing Vista to the IDE drive after installing Windows XP64 Pro to it first (didn't realise I couldn't upgrade the installation until I saw it was greyed out in the Vista installer lol).

I cannot get it to boot in safe mode either - it gets partway through (as far as CLASSPNP.SYS) and then resets.

The BSOD I get (if I disable auto-restart) reads

STOP:0x0000001E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0x0000000003445B42, 0x0000000000000008, 0x0000000003445B42)

If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it - wasted a day so far trying to get this install working with no joy :(
