external hdd wont work on usb2.0-pcmcia

Hey,

Ive got a problem with my windows vista beta 5219. I have Vista running on my notebook (Acer Satellite Pro 6100, iP4 mobile 1.6, 768MB RAM), which only has USB 1.1, which means, my Lacie 250gb-external harddisk is pretty bored.

Now I bought a USB 2.0-pcmcia-card, which works fine with e.g. bluetooth-stick and webcam.

But my Lacie250gb wont work.

If I put the external harddisk on the notebook-usb1.1-port, everythings fine. But whenever I put it on the new controller, windows says, that the device cannot be started. Windows tells me that it found the harddisk, gives me all the information about the hdd, which means, they communicate. But cannot be started.

Anyone with an idea? PLease! :)

check to see if the pcmcia device is rated to handle a USB HD, try the card in another laptop with XP and see if the HD can be recogonized. the configuration may not be available in vista yet....
