Cannot see recoverable deleted items

Hello,

I am trying to help a user whose recoverable deleted items cannot be seen. When I click on Deleted Items, then Tools~Recover Deleted Items, there is nothing. Tried this in Outlook 2000 and 2003 (cached mode).

I have added the registry setting for recovering hard-deleted messages. Tested this by shift-del a message and cannot see that, either.

Any thoughts? Is this an Exchange mailbox issue, not Outlook? I've looked at the mailbox using ExchangeExplorer, too, nothing looks out of the ordinary.

Exchange server is Windows 2003 SP1, Exchange 2003 SP2.
