Setup log files

Does anyone know of any Technet articles that explains all the different log files that get generated when Windows installs and when they get created and by what process? I'd like to find a flowchart which explains what happens when during different stages of a Windows installation, just for reference purposes.

Also, is there anyway to force Windows to create the log files in a different location during setup or is it hard coded? I know I can simply run a batch file at the end of the installation to move the files but wanted to find out if Windows offers something natively.
