KRH Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 My WinME cabs are contained on 3 separate disks for Gateway OEM setup. Since I don't know exactly which I need, I tried copying all the cab files from all 3 to my hard drive, but I can't do it without overwriting. If I put the disk that seems the most likely to contain relevant files in my CDROM drive, will Win98SE2ME setup ask for other disks as needed? By the same token, if I copy the files to subfolders in a main folder on my hard drive, will it ask to be directed to another folder?
MDGx Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 In order to install 98SE2ME options 1, 2 and/or 3, you need all these WinME CABs placed in the same directory [anywhere on any of your local hard drives/partitions], or pop in any English WinME setup CD into your 1st (if more than 1) CD/DVD drive:BASE2.CABCATALOG.CABDRIVER5.CABDRIVER6.CABDRIVER7.CABMINI.CABNET3.CABNET4.CABPRECOPY1.CABWIN_10.CABWIN_11.CABWIN_12.CABWIN_13.CABWIN_14.CABWIN_15.CABWIN_16.CABWIN_17.CABWIN_18.CABWIN_19.CABWIN_20.CABWIN_21.CABWIN_22.CABWIN_8.CABWIN_9.CABAny WinME setup CD works, including OEMs.Any other CABs you may have are not necessary.OEM/VAR manufacturers must preserve the MS CAB structure from WinME setup CD-ROM, and if they wish, they can add their own CABs and/or files, for custom installs, but per the MS license they can't modify/repack the MS CABs.More info in READ1ST.TXT:http://www.mdgx.com/9s2m/READ1ST.TXTFrom now on please post any 98SE2ME related questions/comments/etc into this forum:http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=46349Hope this helps.
KRH Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 Thank you very much. I'm sorry that I posted in the wrong place. I'm still a little confused about the structure of the forum.
