435972 Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 (edited) Tried first to do an NTFS format on a different station using a cluster size of 32K.Then using a SP1 unattended CD to install on the target pc,it seemingly went fine, copying ok, but it hanged on the reboot :"BSOD, yadayada...'ntfs.sys' error"So perhaps I need to explicitly state somewhere in the autoinstall files to use a non-default cluster size?Tried searching for a 'format' string somewhere in .ini or .inf files, nothing helpfull.Searching 'cluster' wasn't much help either. The 'SP1 Deployment Tools' contains a file called oformat.com, can I use this to make XP install on a non-4K cluster size?(can't read the .chm file for some reason, so don't know what the help file has to say about that)thanks Edited December 20, 2005 by 435972
435972 Posted December 21, 2005 Author Posted December 21, 2005 Tried using a post-install method instead via PartitionMagic. This will do, but XP installs with file compression on by default, this feature is not possible on cluster sizes larger than 4K making it impossible to automate the process since conversion will halt on compressed files. So does anyone know a way to disable file compression during the install?
