[Question] - cd-rom drives

Hi all,

when you insert a cd-rom and then open my computer it will hang for a few seconds before displaying anything right?

well does anyone know how to remove "cd-rom/dvd-rom" drive from within my computer? thus possibly speeding it up?

it would still be accessible via run so i dont see this creating a problem

anyone?
