[Help] - anyone know how to add a windows service?

somehow my DHCP Client service has disappeared, so does anyone know how to add a service and where i can get the DHCP Client service

It's just a key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services - grab one from a working machine and import it into yours.

Well, I should say it's a little more than that, but I would doubt the files are missing unless you removed the service via nLite. Assuming this is the case, simply sfc /scannow the box (to make sure all critical system files are installed and in working order), then re-add the service by exporting the dhcp subkey of the Services key, and importing it into your broken machine. Reboot, and it should be back and working properly.

thanks for the quick help cluberti, i vnc to the house computer and compare the registry entries, and apparently this computer had a extra dependecy, I got rid of it and now everything works fine now.

hmm... now come to think of it, maybe that is why i had to manually configure my ip address a few months ago when it stop working, never thought of it then. oh well

but yeah, many thanks for the quick reply.
