danorux Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 (edited) I slipstreamed sp2 and all the hotfixes onto my windows iso, and when I run it on virtual pc, it says it can't find a prior windows installation, and asks for a windows cd. This shouldn't be happening! Any ideas? Edited December 2, 2005 by danorux
Zxian Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 it says it can't a prior windows installationMind explaining this a little bit better? Perhaps give the exact error message?Title Edited - Please follow new forum rules from now on.
Zxian Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 It looks like you're dealing with an Upgrade copy of XP Professional. The Upgrade needs to know that you have a licence to a previous version of Windows to continue. That's why it's searching your hard drive for one, or asking for the old version's install CD.

I used a full version of xp pro to create the iso!Should I try starting over or something, or is there some file I can edit?
Zxian Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 Try starting over from scratch. Follow the guide that's at the top of this forum. Start with just slipstreaming SP2, and then move on to slipstream the hotfixes. This will help you pinpoint where things might be going wrong. You didnt' perchance use nLite to remove anything, did you? If so, then you're dealing with a completely different problem.
