Dual Monitors

Win2000, Nvidia GeForce2MXMX400, all updated.

Was using dual monitors [horizonal], one connected to the analog output of the Nvedia card and one to the digital with an adapter. Bought 2 ViewSonic VA712b monitors. Display Properties [settings, Advanced, GeForce Tab] won't offer dual monitors as it doesn't properly recognize the 2nd monitor, the one connected to the digital output whether with a digital cable or analog with the adapter [the ViewSonics have both].

If I connect a CRT to the digital port with an adapter, choose Dual, Horizonal then unplug the CRT and connect the ViewSonic, it will work. Until re-booting.

Have run all the ViewSonic installers, the ViewSonic model shows as the monitor. When booting, the 2nd monitor does sometimes react briefly, the LED turning green, then back to amber. Using the Nvedia tool Detect Monitor will also sometimes get a reaction. Sometimes it will allow the 2nd monitor to be made the default, but it reverts back.

Have changed out the cables, installed Dual View, BIOS is up to date. I think Ive clicked on every option in Display Properties.

Want to avoid having to keep a CRT handy and get this thing to work correctly! Any ideas?
