Word 2002 Document to index

Im am going to need to index a file I have in word 2002. Can anyone give me the steps on how to do an index? I have not idea, Im sure I have to do it in the proper steps, that much I know. any help?

Try Help menu, Word Help, search for create index. It gives outline of method and step by step instructions.
