Mapped Drive Problem

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am running XP Pro SP2. I have recently run into a problem concerning mapped drives. I have multiple mapped drives on my PC to various network shares. They are all working fine except for one. This one is showing up in windows explorer as "Disconnected Network Drive (K:)".

I can still access the files on the drive just fine, but certain programs that look to this mapped drive are not working properly.

I have tried everything I know -

1.) right-click > disconnect - get error message "The network connection could not be found"

2.) net use K /d - Same thing - the network connection could not be found

when I use net use, that mapped drive is not showing up.

I have no idea what could be causing this.

Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks

Do the programs you use that look to this mapped drive, originate on the mapped drive?

If they do then what I have had to do before is create a shortcut to said program on the desktop(or where ever), and under the shortcuts properties, put the drive letter one space after the target.

ie. "O:\Folder\Program.exe O"

I have no idea why this makes it work.. but it does in some instances

Tell me if i understood your problem right:):)

Hello,

First off thanks for your reply.

I think that the problem may have been due to an issue with Symantec Antivirus Referenced in this article -

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-s...src=bar_sch_nam

I uninstalled Symantec and rebooted, and it seemed to work (for how long, who knows?). I was able to reinstall Symantec and everything seems to be working properly now.

I will post back if I learn anything further regarding this issue.

Again, thanks for replying.
