kbdus.dll error

i have win 98 se on drive c and had win xp with SP 2 on drive d.

i have a P-4 1.8 GHZ system with 40 GB HDD and 256 MB DDR RAM memory.

when xp crashed, i tried to reinstal from CD but got an error "unable to load kbdus.dll file. set up will now quit".

please let me know how to overcome this problem.

i tried MS knowledge base but it says that the problem pertains to win 2000 only. i did not upgrade from 2000 - mine was a new installation of win xp.

i tried reformatting drive d but did not work.
