hj_fr Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 For WinXP only I think but may work for Win2K. Or have you already been down this road? The following registry key if it exists:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\PowerValuename: PromptPasswordOnResumeThis settings allows you to configure client computers to always lock when resuming from a hibernate or suspend. If you enable this setting, the client computer is locked when it is resumed from a suspend or hibernate state. If you disable or do not configure this setting, users can decide if their computer is automatically locked or not after performing a resume operation. That last sentence means you may want to diable the Power applet in control panel so your users can't change things.Another note, I tried this on my XP machine with the option to require Password on resume checked. Setting this option to 0 didn't change the status of the checkmark. I didn't try a reboot in between which might force the checkmark off. Also if the computers are in an elementary school environment are you even creating passwords? If not why not have blank passwords and just let the the kids know to hit return for the prompt.
