mdaigt Posted November 13, 2001 Posted November 13, 2001 I have a Montego II Quadzilla. Having problems running any sound of length (i.e. video games, cd, windows player). Computer designated sounds seem to work fine. Have tried to download from Turlte Beach website, but don't seem to have anything for XP. Am running an AMD Duron 800. Have updated the VIA chipset. Anything else I could possibly try, short of buying another soundcard? Thanks
XPerties Posted November 13, 2001 Posted November 13, 2001 [b:656620cc8e]mdaigt -[/b:656620cc8e] it has something to do with the drivers. I would imagine taht would have a upgrade for a XP driver but you say they dont. Thats really odd, I thought they had the best support. Thats one of the reason I switch from creative. Ok how about the basic drivers supplied when you first installed XP.(XP drivers) Did they do anything or work at all?-XPerties
mdaigt Posted November 13, 2001 Author Posted November 13, 2001 I installed XP on a clean hard drive. It installed the (a) driver for the card. I have had the symptoms mentioned ever since. Can't seem to find any solution. The card worked great with ME. Thanks
XPerties Posted November 13, 2001 Posted November 13, 2001 [b:782332416c]Dude they basically told you to kiss off[/color:782332416c][/b:782332416c]Copied from Turtle beach website about support of XP for your card[/color:782332416c]The Montego series of sound cards are not supported in Windows XP. These cardswere designed at the time when Win 95 was the prevailing OS on the market. Win XP will install the "Reference" drivers that offer basic functionality. The 'Reference' Drivers do not support the Digital I/O and Rear Speakersfunctionality and are not supported by Turtle Beach. If you are using the latest and greatest OS, it would be greatly enhanced with a newer, better quality sound card, compatible with new OSs, and new features as well.We offer discounted upgrades to owners of Montego series cards that can no longer be used with newer Technologies. Please contact our TechSupport for upgrade information to our Santa Cruz sound card.[/quote:782332416c] [b:782332416c]So in other words if XP drivers dont work your screwed and have to buy another card, That sucks.....Sorry dude....But if you read the last paragraph it says about a discount for a new card....Might be worth your wild to call them.[/color:782332416c][/b:782332416c][b:782332416c]-Xperties[/color:782332416c][/b:782332416c]
mdaigt Posted November 13, 2001 Author Posted November 13, 2001 Thanks for your help xpertise. I guess I will have to convince my better half that we need a new one. Darn I really liked the sound from the Quadzilla too. Thanks again, if I need any more help I know where to go. You really shouldn't stay up too late.
XPerties Posted November 14, 2001 Posted November 14, 2001 I just bought the Santa Cruz and being use to Creative sound blaster products....well I was amazed! This baby rocks. You might consider calling them up and ask about a discount for the santa cruz. I know you can get it for about 80 bucks now. And they have great XP drivers for it.-XPerties
mdaigt Posted November 15, 2001 Author Posted November 15, 2001 I went out and purchased the Hercules Muse XL. They had XP drivers on their site. Thanks again. It works now.
XPerties Posted November 15, 2001 Posted November 15, 2001 Great...glad to hear that. Give us a review on that card if you could? Sound good? any noise poping or losing noise in games?-XPerties
