JohnBurrage Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 I have a small LAN at home with 4 PCs connected to a netgear ADSL router. All 4 can access the internet fine.I have one desktop running ME connected via ethernet cable1 laptop connected via wireless running W2K2 laptops connected via wireless running XP homethe ME machine and 1 XP machine can share directories and printers no problem, but the other 2 refuse to participate. The only thing I can see that differentiates them is that they have both previously been connected to another network. I have seen many discussion about domains v workgroups, but couldn't get anything to work.I get the error message \\machinename is not accessible. the network path was not found. This is when I click on the computer name on the W2K machine in my network places.Any help would be gratefully received.John
At0mic Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 (edited) ok can you access the computers by IP? have you checked your firewall settings? Edited September 30, 2005 by At0mic
JohnBurrage Posted October 1, 2005 Author Posted October 1, 2005 On a windows 2000 machine, I can't find any settings for firewalls in control panel. For the XP machine I have switched it off until I can get it to work.
