Office XP/2003 deployment and WSUS

Slipstreaming of Office Servicepacks / Hotfixes and its consequences

What else can I say? This SUCKS BIG TIME! M$ fails once more to release a product that fits into a real-world environment. Not only that WSUS addresses its clients with a stupid GUID instead of the MAC address which will give considerable additional administrative issues with duplicate entries in the WSUS database, now they managed that many many admins will have to reinstall Office from scratch in their environment. Congratulations on this, M$ :realmad: .

So:

When deploying Office XP/2003 with an administrative installation DO NOT apply any Servicepacks and/or Hotfixes to the administrative installation. Otherwise you will not be able to upgrade Office XP/2003 with the WSUS.
