Renaming Device Manager Items

Ok, You know when you install a device, then move it to another PCI Slot, it reinstalls the hardware, but when it places it in device manager it lists it, but with a #2 after it...I know its just cosmetic, but anyway to rename it? I have tried editing the Registry, but it fails to complete it, just gives an error when renaming....any ideas?

Try uninstalling both 'devices' and then reinstall... should solve it...

You need to allow permissions on the folder inside the registry. When you are in regedit just right-click the folder and go to permissions and set your username with full control then modify the FriendlyName key. After that you can remove the permissions you added.
