tomdlgns Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 i am following the instructions as stated on the MANUAL WAY and I am getting an errorso far i have copied the xp files from the cd like the site saysthen i create a directory like the site saysthen i get my sp2.exe file in the correct directory. so far im good until this pointc:\xpsp2.exe -s:c:\xpcd\i386i was under the impression that this is the command i need to input in the run box. the files extract but at the very end i get an error screen. if you are not familiar with the error screen, it tells me i am doing 1 of 2 things wrong, i can get a screen shot.whoever is knowledgeable enough to help me get past this, must know what screen i am reffering to, but i will post it if needed.thanksTom
MHz Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Try this instead:c:\xpsp2.exe /integrate:c:\xpcdI believe you problem is simply adding I386 to the destination path when you shouldn't.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 With so many options available why use the manual option?? There are a at least a dozen free apps to do this for you.
tomdlgns Posted September 24, 2005 Author Posted September 24, 2005 With so many options available why use the manual option?? There are a at least a dozen free apps to do this for you.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>i know, but i started doing it the manual way and it wasnt that hard. i found another website that helped me finish that step..now im stuck on the virtual PC step. i dled the VM ware client and i followed the directions. i pointed my .iso file in the correct spot as the program instructed, i start the VM and im in the blue setup screen. after a few min. in the blue screen, i get to a page that says cannot find any hard drives.i dont think this is normal...i followed all the steps that the tutorial stated. any suggestions?thanks guysTom
