Viddy O' Car Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 I recently ran into trouble with my install of Windows 98; Everytime explorer tried to load when the computer booted, I got an "illegal operation" error, and it closed -- thereby rendering windows inaccessable. So, I installed a second copy of windows, and began re-installing my software, drivers, etc.I want to reinstall microsoft word, too, but I can't find one of the neccesay cd's.The reason I need to reinstall it at all is because the registry keys are not in the registry of the new Windows install; all its files still remain where they were. So, I am wondering if it would be possible to extract the neccesary keys from the old registry (from my old windows install) (in C:\windows\), and the add them to the new registry install (in C:\windows.001)If this would work, I also need to know the location of the keys -- I assume it made entries everywhere, and not just neatly in the /software key. Thanks for any assistance
