spammunch Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Please forgive me if this is a stupid noob question. I'm trying to change the default location of the Docs & Settings folder.I've intensely studied this killa site and successfully created my own slipstreamed xpsp2 w/ latest security hotfixes and auto install of basic programs (like java, adobe reader, etc). However changing the default location of the Documents & Settings folder has got me stumped. Hours of searching turned up a reg mod to:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList]"Profiles Directory"By default the dword is:"%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings"further reg surfing showed many keys that point to that folder location so I thought there's no way just changing that ProfileList key would work.Sure enough, it didn't. I can't begin to tell you the strange things that happened as a result. Thank goodness I backed-up the reg b4 modding. So now I'm back to square1 w/ no further ideas.Has anyone successfully done this during install or post install of XP? I would think the earlier in the install process the better for this kinda mod. Does this .reg mod file belong in cmdline? Thanks in advance for your expertise!
