Skootles Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Well, I've had longhorn working for a while (right as I downloaded v 4074, the Beta was released, and I can't convince my friend to Dl a 2 Gb file ).But anyways, when I start up, it asks me to install a multimedia controller for my audio. And, when I search for drivers, it doesn't come up with anything. When I cancel, I can't hear any audio from my PC. Now, I don't have any sound card, I just use the port that's built-in to the motherboard. Also, when I try to install some drivers for my Video Capture device, it says that they have to be approoved by some system... is there any way to do that, short of nagging the product creators for a longhorn/vista driver? Thanks!
Biohead Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Not too sure on your video capture device, but for the sound you need to download the drivers from the manufacturer of the mobo. Unfortunately, mine is a laptop from toshiba and they liek to wrap their drivers into a nice little exe package that doesn't do what it should in Vista. Although it says it has installed properly, there is still no sound and when I reboot I get the new hardware found wizard. BUT... I solved this by using the latest beta of WinRAR which can decompile exe files. Then I just extracted them to a folder I could remember and then point windows there.
