Word 2003 Table Column Swap

Hi

Issue:

Word 2003 - table with 6 columns - all different widths.

I want to move column 5 (which is 5 cm wide) to the spot where column 2 currently is.

I have tried both dragging the column across and cutting and pasting, but in both instances, this column takes on the width of column 3 (2 cm) when pasted or dragged. Checked all the settings, but cannot find anywhere where I can "lock" all the settings for particular columns so they retain their set formatting when move around within the table.

Any suggestions welcome! Always end up having to reformat these moved columns manually!
