Solaran_X Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 I know this was covered before. I did what was suggested on that thread and it didn't expand the file. When I boot up, I get the <Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe corrupted or missing error. I'll reboot several times and eventually the error subsides and I can boot up. I tried the suggested fix in the previous there to these results.I found the NTOSKRNL.EX_ on my WinXP Pro CD (in the i386 directory) and copied it to my desktop. I then entered the command prompt and did the following.C:\Documents and Settings\<MyName>>expand "%userprofile%\Desktop\NTOSKRNL.EX_" "%userprofile%\Desktop\NTOSKRNL.EXE"Microsoft ® File Expansion Utility Version 5.1.2600.0Copyright © Microsoft Corp 1990-1999. All rights reserved. Can't find input file: c:\documents and settings\<MyName>\desktop\ntoskrnl.ex_.Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? This intermittent booting is already getting annoying, and I just put this fresh install of WinXP Pro on my "new" computer (new Athlon 64 3000+ processor and nForce3-250 chipset motherboard with all my old computer's innards - 40GB Samsung HD, 1GB PC2100 RAM, Radeon 9550, Audigy 2 ZS, CD-RW, and DVD-ROM) today.
