Help with Dual Booting

I am need of some advice on dual booting. I installed two copies of xp on my primary ide hard drive which is partitioned into two separate drives. The idea was to use one for music only and the other for everything else. The OS for everything else got a virus and needed to have windows reinstalled. After doing this I can no longer see the windows boot menu which means I can’t get into my OS for music only. How can I fix this? Is it better to have the two OS’s on physically separate hard disks to prevent things like this?
