media player - full size problem

hello there.

i am new here so hopefully you can sort me out!

have just started downloading movies and chose to use the windows media player.

on pressing play the screen was pretty small. so click on full screen and still the pic didnt fill the whole screen.

is there a problem with my player or do i need to change a setting?

another thing is that when i download it goes to my msn player by default. ie the one in the bottom left corner of msn screen. i think if i could set it to my media player it may be okay
