Greetings,

We have a MS Server 2003 AD domain. All of our Servers are 2000 or 2003. I'm trying to monitor event logs remotely for each machine, but do not want to grant my service account administrative access to all servers in the domain.

In GP there is a setting that allows you to grant non administrators access to the security and application event logs. For the most part this works fine on the 2003 servers, but does not on 2000 server machines even though there is a setting for it in the local sec pol, and it appears to be getting the policy.

Has anyone else run into this and is it possible to monitor the event log remotely on a 2000 server box without making the user a local admin?

One issue that could be the cause is not being able to access the admin shares on the 2000 machine without being an admin. Is it possible to allow a non-administrative user to access the admin shares?

Thanks in Advance.

Adam
