Hamins Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Hi,I've just setup a network with Windows2003 Server, and 15 WinXP clients. The server setup is quite simple. Just one server, that fucntions as a DC, DHCP, DNS, File/Print server. The Active directory structure too is quite simple. Just one main OU, and 2 sub OUs .... one for computer accounts, and the other for user accounts. However, the 2 sub OUs are simply for classifcation purpose only. I have'nt actually assigned individual GPOs for the user, and computer OUs. Two GPOs are assigned ... one on the main OU, and on the Domain Controller OU. Now, I have setup a HP 1460PCL Laser network printer, and installed it on the server as a share. The problem is that most users can install the printer from the server, and print, but a few user get an access denied when they try installing the shared printer from the server to their PCs. I wonder why some of the users are facing this problem. All the users and computers have identical rights.Any idea(s) ?thnx!!
m8rk Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 (edited) you sure the permissions on the share and the permissions to the printer include all users [not sure i'm correct here - away from base - i'll check tomorrow] Edited June 20, 2005 by m8rk
Hamins Posted June 21, 2005 Author Posted June 21, 2005 Yes, I have check and double-checked .... alll users have been granted permissions to access the printer.
Hamins Posted June 21, 2005 Author Posted June 21, 2005 Thnx guyz ... Issue resolved. I had denied the users the right to install printer drivers. However, what baffles me is that I had set the right for the OU, yet some of the users could install and work with the printers ??
