Reverse display information

Featured Replies

I made an unattended XP SP2 disk and is works amazingly. One thing that was noticed in XP is the way that computers are displayed in Network Places in a domain. In the attached jpg you see the Description followed by the Computer Name.

Description (Computer Name)

I would need that to be inversed like this

Computer Name (Description)

The same applies in My Computer with the mapped drive letters. I looked through Technet, MSFN forums, Kelly's Korner as well as scores of google search results with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I find that a little irritating too so wouldnt mind an answer on it.

Also, is there a GP setting somewhere to flip it (for domain users)?

Regards,

N.

There is a mistake on the Microsoft article for changing the position of the drive letter.

Was

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer]

"ShowDriveLettersFirst"=dword:00000004

Should be

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]

"ShowDriveLettersFirst"=dword:00000004
