Incorrect Write Speed Detection - CD BURNING

Recommended Posts

Greetings All,

I have a Pioneer DVR-109 DVD burner (Running XP SP2), previously to installing some Windows updates I now find that when I use a Verbatim OR Imation 52x rated CD-R, Windows now only detects the available write speeds of 1x, 2x and 4x!

When I use Nero Burning ROM, however I have all speeds availble (ie, 2x 4x 8x 12x 16x 24x 32x etc etc) and everything is nice.

I don't really care about the fact that the inbuilt Windows Burning (Roxio I think it is) is incorrectly detecting write speeds but I believe its affecting my copy of Alcohol 120% which is HIGHLY annoying.

I've tried upgrading firmware, changing IDE channels, using PIO instead of DMA access and I've even changed my DMA settings in the BIOS etc etc blah blah

BUT the CD's that I've used in the past that worked fine are from the same batch and why is Nero detecting normally and burning normally???

This is driving me nuuuutttttssss!!

Help!
