Hi

I am new to this forum.

I was searching for any information on setting up windows server 2003 for

windows media streaming.

I want to buy a Dedicated Server and setup Windows Media. Since the

dedicated server is my first, so I am going for a Fully Managed Dedicated

Server.

Now, what i require is to Stream Pre-Recorded (on-Demand) Video Lectures.

Sine I have never setup a media server before, what steps should I take. I

have got hold of a book by Microsoft " Microsoft Windows Media Resource Kit"

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-

v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Now would this book be enough for setting up the windows media server on

Windows Server 2003.

Which version should I look for , Windows Server 2003 Standard, Enterprise

or Datacenter ?

NO Live streaming is planned at the moment, Only on-Demand streaming is

requried.

Can anyone guide me ?

I'll also have to administor the Windows Server 2003, should i get my hands on " Windows Server 2003 " Book by Sybex

I don't think you can afford Datacenter Edition...

Have you configured your Win2K3 machine for Streaming Media Services?

Look in Help...

I not yet purchased the Dedicated server, so the question of if i have setup the media server on it, it out of the question : )

Trouble understanding your question. You want to know what version of windows 2003 server to buy for windows media services?

Unless you are buying an 8 CPU 32GB hardware solution Standard Edition will work just fine.

Alright, I have asked my host and they said that the Windows Server is Standard edition.

What I need to know is if there is any tutorial or book where i can learn how to setup Windows MEdia Server under Windows Server 2003.

actually did it couple of months back without any prior knowledge and its quite simple, i guess u still have to do some reading to fine tune and security reasons but the default will already work
