please don't hurt me - i know the explorer view has been discussed here several times, but my specific problem i haven't found yet.

i've read through a lot of topics saying: make your settings in explorer and export the following key.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams
"Settings"

but everytime i change the setting to "sort by type" and close explorer, the changes are not saved. next time i open explorer it is sorted by name again.

here's my key (detailed view already is on and working as desired):

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams]
"Settings"=hex:08,00,00,00,04,00,00,00,01,00,00,00,00,77,7e,13,73,35,cf,11,ae,\
 69,08,00,2b,2e,12,62,04,00,00,00,04,00,00,00,43,00,00,00

what i have to change for "sort by type"? anyone can help?

i found out, that the actual problem is the following key:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"ClassicViewState"=dword:00000001

when commenting out this line in my .reg-file the explorer shows all files sortet by type as it should. but when importing that key (and logging off and on again) the files are sortet by name again - and can not be changed anymore!

if i got this right, the ClassicViewState-entry makes the explorer not save every single folder view, but makes every folder look the same. but where is that "standard view" saved, if not in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams}?
