sedative Posted October 30, 2001 Posted October 30, 2001 get a cable modem! but seriously, i picked this up on another forum, haven't tried it since i never see a balloon..1.) Go to Start : Run : type in: gpedit.msc2.) On the right pane.. under User Configuration, dbl-click Administrative Templates 3.) Then in the right pane.. dbl-click 'Start Menu and Taskbar' 4.) in the list... theres one called 'Remove Balloon Tips on Start Menu Items'. 5.) Dbl-Click that and then select 'Disabled' 6.) click OK and close the Group Policy window and there ya go!---------------------but! if that doesn't work..1.) Go to Start : Run : and type in services.msc2.) on the right pane .. there should b one called 'Alerter' .. dbl-click it and under start-up type.. select 'disabled'.---------------------like i said, i haven't tried these, but i hope it'll help.

Sean Posted October 31, 2001 Posted October 31, 2001 Download (if you don't already have them) Powertoys for Windows XP...Open TweakUI and go to "Taskbar"Unckeck "Enable balloon tips" Hope that helps...
