dkw99 Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 Hi all,I am new to the boot cd/dvd scene. I have been using Barts's Boot CD's for a while to deploy ghost images from DVD to PC's. The new images have just gone over 2GB. When i built my new el-ghost boot disk and tried building one of my PC's it failed to boot from the internal DVD. I tried the bootable DVD in another computer of a different brand and model and it worked fine. I then tried booting the computer using an external USB DVD drive and to my surprise it booted ok. The PC seems boot Windows XP from a MSDN DVD from the internal drive, my Bootable DVD''s with less than 2GB of data, but it will not boot my Ghost restoration disk when there is more than 2GB of data on the DVD.I though it might have been BIOS problem but the further I look in to it the more confused I get.Has anyone got any Ideasthanks in advance
LiquidSage Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 Dvd's have a limitation of files greater than 2 gb. You need to telll ghost to split your image into multiple files, each less than 2 gb.
dkw99 Posted March 20, 2005 Author Posted March 20, 2005 thanks for reply.I have already split the file down to 1.8GB and it dowsn't boot. The funny thing is the same DVD will boot in my HP computer and not in the IEI computer.
