Hi All,

Wondering if anyone has come across this issue.

I want to create an xp sp2 image from a thinkpad running XP server to a RIS server running 2003.

Initially all works well until I get errors (15 or so) saying that dll files cannot be uploaded to the server because "access was denied to the file."

i.e. c:\windows\$ntuninstallkb83337$\sxs.dll could not be copied because access to the file was denied. this will not be included in the new instalation image."

All errors occur inthe $ntuninstall folder.

Isnt the $ntuninstall folder on the computer the place where the service pack

archiving the files it was replacing?

Could this error occur because I am using a utility partion on the laptop?

Does anyone know of a way to make the errors go away?

Thanks

I wasn't aware that you could create a RIS image from a running computer, I thought that it has to be the i836 folder on a Windows CD.

Well. You must use Riprep for client images. The RIS images are clean flat images of your CD. It is most wise to have a standard RIS flat image of each client image you have. So if you have 10 riprep images of XP and 2 of 2K. You need 1 flat image of XP and 1 of 2K.
