takerm Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 When i go to run a database program in windows xp as an everyday user it refuses to work, how ever if i log on as an administrator it works perfectly?any ideas where i could be going wrong?Certain icons and programs in the start menu will not show up even though i have full control ?
war59312 Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Many applications, sadly and mostly poorly coded, will only run 100% under an admin account. Here is how I run applications that have this problem. Here is an example:runas /profile /env /savecred /user:Computername\administrator "%windir%\NOTEPAD.EXE"Simply change to your liking and create it as a shortcut that way when you launch the shortcut the app will run under an admin account.Take Care, WillPS: Make sure Secondary Logon service is running via services.msc .
rjz Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 For the icons they are stuck in the admin account only. Move them from the docs and settings admin to the one in there that is all users or yours. Check for documents, quick launch, and desktop. Any others you want to.
