I understand that unattended setup does not mix with F6 driver loading (anyone know why?), but my question is, how much can still be done in winnt.sif short of FullUnattend?

I want to have a custom install CD that:

(Definately)

Changes "Documents and Settings" to "Settings"

Changes "Program Files" to "Applications"

(If possible)

Fills in the CD-key for me

Sets my Timezone, etc.

I know how to do this with winnt.sif, my question is:

Can any of it be done if I'm using the F6 method to load RAID drivers? I cannot for the life of me integrate my ASUS SLI DELUXE'S nf4 NVRAID into my install CD, even with Bashrat's Driver packs. I get BSOD's no matter what I try...

Thanks

Hello brian,

You can still have your F6 (loading of RAID drivers) even with unattended.

Have whatever values you want in your winnt.sif... including fullunattend, change $Docs and $Progs folder locations, ProductKey, timezone, everything!

But the one value to be looking at is the "OEMpreinstall=" line.

It seems that if you either don't have that line, or if you set it to "no", then your f6 will be avaialble.

Do post back on how it works out for you.

Great! I won't get to try it til fri or sat, but I have one other question: If I can't use OEMPreinstall, can I still easily integrate my drivers, etc, or is it going to be a lot harder? I've always used OEM preinstall...

Well, considering that the OEMpnpDriversPath method is the one we normally use to integrate drivers, and that OEMpreinstall is what places the drivers appropriately, yes its going to be a lot harder.

But you could turn the tables and make it massively easy for yourself. There's a utility called nLite right on this forum - check out its ability to integrate PnP and textmode drivers. nLite is able to make drivers become *DIRECTLY* part of the original windows install source. In other words, your drivers will go into I386.

After that integration of drivers with nLite, you don't need oempreinstall anymore.

Waiting for friday.... ;)
