Howdy Folks,

This issue started a while back. I am using XP Pro. I have been using Drive Image 2002 for back-ups. Recently, I was attempting to do a regular back-up of my system, Whe the computer was shutting down to re-boot into the Caldera DOS mode, I got these errors:

Err 5: Error finding VFLOPPY.SYS

Err 8: Fake Floppy driver not found

"Press any key to boot active partition"

I have used this type of back-up for years without any problems, now all of a sudden, it does this error thing, and I can no longer do back-ups, also, everytime the computer tries to boot normally, I get the same error codes.

In my system, I run 2 hard drives, C and D. The D drive is used primarily for back-ups and to store other stuff I don't need sitting around on the C drive. I had tried several things to try and fix this problem, I even did a drive image restore to to solve this problem, and it seems to have carried over to an image that didn't have the problem. I am at my witts end with this thing, any help would be appreciated. I am fairly still a computer noob, so please be gentle with me.... :(

Thanks,

Dan

the fact that it happens even after rolling back to a previous image and that it allows you the option of booting an active partition would suggest that you have a custom bootloader. Try Recovery Console to repair your mbr and then reinstall drive image...check if a floppy is in your system and also verify the bios has the correct boot sequence.

I installed the XP CD and booted from it, went in and repaired the MBR, it all works fine once again!! Thanks very much for your fast response!!
