jcg Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Hello! I used nLite as a starting point for setting up a custom XP SP2 disc and then started experimenting with my own changes, namely tweaking the registry and obliterating Windows Messenger. Somewhere along the line, however, my test installs have started complaining that a set of standard Windows drivers aren't WHQL-certified, giving me the "such-and-such has not passed Windows logo testing" spiel and requiring me to confirm their installation. The drivers that do this are as follows:Audio CodecsLegacy Audio DriversMedia Control DevicesLegacy Video Capture DevicesVideo CodecsMicrosoft WINMM WDM Audio Compatibility DriverMicrosoft Kernel System Audio DeviceMicrosoft Kernel Audio SplitterMicrosoft Kernel Acoustic Echo CancellerMicrosoft Kernel GS Wavetable SynthesizerMicrosoft Kernel DLS SynthesizerMicrosoft Kernel Wave Audio MixerMicrosoft Kernel DRM Audio DescramblerThe only significant thing I remember doing to the install set before this started happening was to remove the msmsgs.* package and to add some custom settings to the hive*.inf files. I doubt that removing msmsgs would trip up WHQL, but could changing the hive*.inf files do so? Is there some other file I might have inadvertently removed that could cause this trouble? If it's important, the base I'm working from is Windows XP Pro with SP2, KB873339, 885835, 885836, 886185, and 890175 slipstreamed. My test installs are being done in Virtual PC 6 running on Mac OS X 10.3.7.Thanks for your help!
